How to use the desk stretch routine generator
This tool builds a timed stretch routine for your break and walks you through it move by move. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Pick the focus area that feels stiffest - lower back, neck & shoulders, hips & glutes or full body.
- Pick your break length (5, 10 or 15 minutes) and your setup (chair or standing).
- Press Start. The timer counts down every move and shows the next one during the 5-second get-ready pause.
- Follow the on-screen cues, use the audio beeps as markers, and press Stop & cancel any time to end the run.
Timing and sound: one countdown per move plus 5-second get-ready pauses. The beeps mark move starts and the end; the screen stays on while a run is active (best effort).
Safety
- These are general, low-impact movement suggestions - not medical advice.
- Stop any move that causes sharp pain and skip it if it does not feel right.
- If you have an injury or a medical condition, talk to a physiotherapist or doctor first.
The mute toggle switches the audio cues off or on; your choice is remembered in this browser.
What you can do with this tool
Five common ways to use the desk break stretch routine generator.
-
Rescue a wrecked neck & shoulder line
After a long meeting or an all-day keyboard session, run the 5-minute neck & shoulders routine with the timer - no deciding what to stretch.
-
A 10-minute mid-afternoon lower-back reset
Hips and back are tight from sitting since morning; the timer walks you through lower-back and spine releases before your next video call.
-
End the workday with hips & glutes
Ten hours of sitting compresses the hips. A 15-minute hips & glutes routine with audio cues keeps you from losing count of reps or holds.
-
A standing break with no chair
In the hallway or standing at the whiteboard, pick the Standing setup - the routine switches to chair-free moves only.
-
Share the exact routine as text
Copy the whole routine as plain text and paste it to a desk mate or into a note, with every move, hold and the total time.
Frequently asked questions
Is this tool free? Do I need an account?
It is 100% free with no sign-up and no account. Your routine is generated and timed entirely in your browser - there is nothing to register and nothing to subscribe.
Is this medical advice?
No. These are general, low-impact desk movement suggestions. Stop any move that causes sharp pain, and if you have an injury or a medical condition, talk to a physiotherapist or doctor before using the routine.
How does the timer work?
Each move has one countdown, and a 5-second get-ready pause shows the next move before it starts. Beeps mark move starts and the end of the routine; you can mute them any time. While a run is active the tool asks the screen to stay on (best effort, when the browser supports it).
Can I do the routine standing without a chair?
Yes. Pick the Standing setup and the routine only uses moves that need no chair. Some focus areas (especially lower back) have fewer chair-free moves, so standing routines can be shorter than the full time budget.
Is my data saved anywhere?
Only on your own device: your last settings (focus, time, setup and mute) are kept in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing your browser data removes them.
