Notepad
A faithful Windows 11-style notepad in your browser. Write across multiple tabs, autosave to your browser, and use find & replace, word wrap, zoom, line numbers, and print. Your text never leaves your device.
When to Use This Online Notepad
A private, browser-based notepad for every kind of quick text work:
-
Quick Notes on a Shared Computer
A familiar Notepad that works anywhere on a shared or locked-down computer, with no install, no account, and no ads. Type your note and let autosave keep it safe in the browser.
-
Multiple Documents at Once
Keep a to-do list, a draft, and a reference open at the same time. Open new tabs (Ctrl+T), switch between them, and close finished ones (Ctrl+W) without losing context.
-
Find and Replace in a Long Document
Locate a term or replace a value everywhere in a long document. Open Find & Replace (Ctrl+F / Ctrl+H), use the match counter, and Replace All with a count of what changed.
-
Insert a Timestamp
Stamp log entries with the current local date and time in one key press, matching classic Windows Notepad behavior.
-
Save and Reopen a File
Download your note as a .txt file with Ctrl+S, then load it back with Ctrl+O. The encoding selector in the status bar controls how files are read and written.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is my text stored on a server?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. Autosave uses your browser's local storage on your device only; nothing is sent to a server.
- What does autosave do?
- Autosave continuously saves each tab's text and your settings to your browser. If you reload or close the page, your work is restored the next time you open the app in the same browser.
- Can I work on more than one document?
- Yes. Open multiple tabs (Ctrl+T), switch between them, and close the ones you are done with (Ctrl+W). Each tab is saved independently.
- How do I save my note as a file?
- Press Ctrl+S (or File > Save) to download the current document as a .txt file. Use File > Open to load a text file back into the editor.
- What does F5 do?
- F5 inserts the current date and time at the cursor, just like classic Windows Notepad. It is handy for timestamping logs and notes.
